Amendia Acquires Spinal Fusion Products and Technology from Baxano Surgical (press release)

Acquisition of iO-Flex® and iO-Tome® product lines expands Amendia’s capabilities in spinal decompression procedures.

Marietta, Georgia (PRWEB) February 03, 2015

Amendia, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, minimally invasive spinal surgical instruments and implants, announced that it acquired the iO-Flex® and iO-Tome® product lines and technology rights. The iO-Flex technology allows surgeons to target lumbar spinal stenosis during spinal decompression procedures using Neuro Check® and MicroBlade Shaver®, resulting in the precise removal of impinging bone and soft tissue without nerve disruption. The iO-Tome technology rapidly and precisely removes bone, specifically the facet joints, and is designed to provide a clear working channel for disc preparation and interbody device placement.

Amendia acquired the products and technology from Baxano Surgical through a court supervised auction process. “The Baxano asset auction presented the perfect opportunity to expand our product portfolio to meet all of our customers’ needs across the continuum of care”, said CEO, Jeff Smith. “We are especially grateful to our President of Operations, Tim Lusby, who leads our Corporate Development team. Tim was instrumental in securing this deal for Amendia. We are also excited to welcome the Baxano employees, distributors, hospitals and surgeon customers to the Amendia family”, said Smith.

The addition of Baxano’s leading-edge product line complements Amendia’s portfolio of spinal devices, including the unique Zeus-O, Oblique Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion Device (OLLIF). According to Amendia Board Member Tom Greene, “We are expanding our portfolio of innovative, minimally-invasive products to reflect the expected growth of Lumbar fusion procedures in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting.”

Headquartered in a state of the art, 80,000 square-foot facility in Marietta, Georgia. Amendia is a leading provider of innovative medical devices used in spinal surgical procedures. These include spinal fixation systems, implants, and instruments.
