K2M introduces lateral MIS spine system

K2M Leaps Into Far Lateral Market (OTW)

The RAVINE Lateral Access System was one of the new products announced at this year’s North American Spine Society (NASS) 2010 annual meeting. This is the first product introduced by the company for the far lateral market and also expands K2M’s focus on minimally invasive products.

So what are the specs on RAVINE? Well it has a dual flat blade platform “for a true muscle splitting transpsoas approach,” according to a K2M press release. The company says the system offers rigid fixation to the spine and also includes the option for a third or fourth blade. “It represents an innovative design departure from the tubular retractors, while providing tremendous adaptability to both patient anatomy and surgeon technique,” once again according to the company’s release.
