21 metal-on-metal hip companies will have to report ongoing clinical data for the FDA

Can metal-on-metal hip replacements make people sick by releasing metal ions into the bloodstream?

The FDA wants to know — and is ordering the 21 makers of these devices to come up with answers with clinical studies.

    Have discovered I have a high Chromium level in bloodstream following metal on metal hip replacement 2 years ago. MRI also showed inflammation. Am going to undergo revision. Wonder if the manufacturer should cover this expense?
