I talk with a ton of ortho people each week. Seems like everyone wants to talk about AI. But through these conversations, I have found that many are thinking about AI in the wrong context.
AI is not a thing.
Let me say that again. AI is not a thing. AI is like ether. You can't see it or touch it. Let me give you an example or analogy that you have lived through. Today's AI (circa 2022) is akin to Cellular Connectivity (circa 2000) or the Internet (circa 2001). When Cellular Connectivity emerged, people didn't invest in "Cellular Connectivity", they invested in Verizon. Because Verizon used the new technology to create transformative new services. When the Internet emerged, people didn't invest in "Internet", they invested in Amazon (eCommerce), Netflix (streaming entertainment) and Google (search and web ads). These companies created transformative new services. You can't invest in AI, or get a job in AI, or chase AI because it's just not a thing. So, if you are an investor, a surgeon, a sales professional, or whatever, seek out the transformative new services, not AI.
