Remembering an arthroplasty pioneer – Chit Ranawat, MD

Today, we pause to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Dr. Chitranjan S. Ranawat—a true pioneer whose vision and dedication reshaped the field of arthroplasty. He was more than a surgeon. He was a teacher, leader, innovator, and philanthropist. His influence spans decades, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire orthopaedic surgeons worldwide. I never got to work with Chit, but I played tennis with him in the early 1990s. As we look back at the most productive phasae age is each ortho space, Chit was one of the architects of joint design in the 1980's. This was the golden period of joints. We are currently leaving Extremities as it’s becoming over-saturated. We are entering the Sports Med wave, then will be entering the Imaging/Navigation wave.
