What the Enovis–eCential Deal actually means for the rest of Spine

If you only skimmed the news, you probably walked away with the wrong story. The wrong story is: Spineart lost eCential Robotics to Enovis. The real story is simpler, and more interesting. Spineart never owned eCential. They partnered with them. Enovis just made a binding offer to buy the robot company. And Enovis said out loud that it is not entering the surgical spine implant market. That last sentence is the one most people skipped. This is a classic ortho mix-up: implant company + enabling-tech partner + new buyer. Imaging + navigation + a robotic arm on one system they brand as Op.n. Their whole pitch since 2022 has been “the smartphone of surgical robots”: one platform, many implant apps.
