Wright Medical Gets Subpoena Seeking Profemur Hip Documents (Wall Street Journal Online)
Orthopedic-device maker Wright Medical Group Inc. (WMGI) recently received a subpoena from a U.S. Attorney’s office seeking documents related to the company’s Profemur series of hip-replacement devices.
The company got the subpoena Friday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee, Wright disclosed in a regulatory filing Tuesday. The subpoena requests “records and documentation” on Profemur products and covers a period between Jan. 1, 2000, and Aug. 2, 2012.
The company added in a statement that the subpoena “is not an allegation of wrongdoing or product safety issues” and doesn’t impact the company’s ability to sell the devices.
“We are cooperating with the U.S. Attorney to provide the requested information,” the company said.
Shares of Wright, which gets about one-third of its sales from hip products, recently were down 1.1% to $19.54.
